Buy a Tshirt for poodles in need

Sometimes there are good causes that need our support. Poodle Rescue is one of those.

When Zefi was approached to donate something for a raffle to raise money to help poodles for IPR she was happy to help. One of the paintings donated was chosen to create a Tshirt to sell through the Poodle Room Shop as a means of raising funds for poodles in need.

Long and short sleeve Tshirts and sweatshirts with the design pictured are available in grey and navy. Proceeds go to IPR so you know that while you look great you're also helping a great cause.

The story of Rupert and Annie

On January 1, 2010 IPR rescued two standard poodles just 15 minutes from their home base. The weather was in the low teens. All of their water was frozen and there was no food for them. There was no bedding in their dog house and their pen had not been scooped in months, at best. Annie and Rupert had been living outside in a 10 X 10 foot pen for a year. They had been untouched grooming wise. They were covered in feces and matted tightly to the skin. This was the worst case IPR had seen since its beginning. Annie and Rupert had the sweetest temperments imaginable for a situation like this. The grooming process took countless hours and the poodles showered their care takers with kisses the entire time! Once cut down Annie weighed a mere 25lbs and Rupert weighed 35lbs, far from normal standard poodle weight. Annie and Rupert were updated medically once they had adequate weight gains. Annie still awaits being spayed due to her weight but both standard have been placed. Annie will go to her new home at the end of February and Rupert is already enrolled in obedience school with his new parents.

About Indianapolis Poodle Rescue

Indianapolis Poodle Rescue has been rescuing and re-homing purebred poodles for nearly 12 years now. Owner surrenders and puppy mill closures are on the rise.

On December 26, 2008 Indianapolis Poodle Rescue rescued 20 standard poodles and 1 toy, including 4 litters of standard puppies as young as 4 days old. Every poodle and poodle puppy was saturated in urine and covered with lice. IPR became a home to many new friends as volunteers from the Indianapolis community stepped forward to assist. All of these poodles are in wonderful homes now and look very different!

The Indianapolis Poodle Rescue Raffle

On February 12, 2010 Indianapolis Poodle Rescue held a huge raffle at the Indy Winter Classic Dog Shows. Two of Zefi's pastel paintings (pictured below) were among a lot of great items raffled to raise money for poodles in need.

A Happy Ending

Pepper was a gorgeous silver toy poodle girl who Marlys and her husband rescued from their local humane society at the age of 6. Pepper had already been given up for adoption twice by the time they found her and gave her a home. Pepper had a great life with her new family, travelling with them all over the USA. She was much loved till she died at the age of 15.

A long time ago Marlys (pictured left) sent Zefi a photo of Pepper to use as reference if she wanted to paint a silver poodle. Some time later Zefi did a painting of Pepper and let Marlys know about it, but Marlys couldn't afford to buy it. When Zefi donated it to IPR for their raffle she told Marlys about it and Marlys bought raffle tickets. The happy ending is that Marlys won and now Pepper is back with her mom!
